I hope that everyone enjoyed the opening ceremonies last night. It was a long night for us bringing it to the viewers at home. We had about an hour turnaround of the show and we needed every minute of it to fix some minor problems.
After being here almost a week I have gotten a couple questions from people. I will answer a few of them.
What is the weather like down there? Everyone is wearing long sleeves and not sweating to death. The weather has been about 72-85 during the day with close to high humidilty some days and not much the next. Nights have typically been low to mid 60's. Very nice. It seems like late August or early September in Chicago. By the way, people are sweating.
What is your typical work day like?
We are scheduled on 12 hour shifts. I tend to get in a little before my shift will start just so I can check in with people at the venue. We may be editing a lot of segments for broadcast each day or just recording segments from the venue and giving them to the control room to air at the proper time. If we are editing it takes a few hours to put the coverage together and if we are just recording the segments it only takes a few minutes for each segment to be ready to air.
If anyone has any other questions for me I would enjoy answering them. Once the games start my day is typically the same for 2 weeks. I will go explore Rio more once when we have some more time. Enjoy day 1 from Rio!
