I have gotten a lot of comments from my friends that are also working in Rio and they keep asking me if I am actually working while here. The answer is yes. The past couple days we have been fortunate to have a day off and yesterday the diving event was aired live in the afternoon so it made for a short work day. So what did we do? We took advantage of getting out of work early and went to see beach volleyball at Copcacabana Beach. We were able to see a set and a half at the competition and then we walked along the beach to experience the atmosphere of the area. We went to an open air market where people were selling all kinds of souvenirs and got a couple little treasures. After the market we stumbled on a party for VISA card members and were able to get in. The party was at the Copacabana Palace, the place where Barry Manilow came up with the idea to write "Copacabana". It was a beautiful area and we enjoyed drinks and snacks while watching the NBC coverage of the games. We also were fortunate to see Bart Conner who happened to be there. It was great to see him. We stayed there until the swimming was over and then went back to catch our bus back to the hotel. Despite the 2 hours of commute it was worth the trip! Now back to work for the rest of the games.
